Hi everybody, Thank you for contributing to the poetry contest. We had many brilliant poems to go through and enjoyed every one. The "contest" was joined in by many poets of varying style, and their talent glowed in the poems they entered. Sadly the rules of the game was that some one's poem gets selected. So the contest "winners" are:

Hindi/ Urdu : Manisha Dua with ahsas

English: Maylynda Chan with one day, three autumns

Congratulations !

And thanks to the judges: Sanjay Saksena for Hindi/ Urdu, and Rajiv Narang/ Gina Gallyot for English.

TITLE: Land Down Under of Love, Hope and Tears

.

.

Do I need a reason to love?

Can I not love the beauty,

That makes me happy and free?

Is it not a common feeling,

For me to love the beautiful city,

Where I can be my true self?

Ah, how fortunate it is for me,

Such blissful blessings,

To have this gorgeous land,

Exist within my memories.

Though dreadful deadliness

Now stops me from reaching her,

She has long possessed my heart

I believe, and I sincerely do,

That one day, I will return to her

And, hopefully, be with her, forever.

SURRENDER

I no longer inhabit this skin,

you have created a new canvas of desire

that trembles when you are near

the heat from your gaze flush upon me

lingering in places I know your hands soon will seek

whispers and sighs uncontrollably yours

and I surrender to this passion you create

drawing my mind into yours,

matched by our bodies entwined

then released but never apart

your tenderness flows into me

into the softest core of me

your strength builds the wave I crest upon

as you sink deeper, gently

yet full of force and vigour

make me yours this night, every night

till forever is only a word

A Holy Poem For The Atheist Lover

1. He says blasphemy is a kind of love he cannot resist I say I see God in him, our love is every bit of holy he spits on but does he really not know god as i know god or does he just pretend to hate someone i love more than i love him?

2. When he asks me all the reasons why I fell in love with him in the first place I want to say ,“You are a church of broken glass and hallelujahs you are haunted like every holy thing” but I bite my tongue and I say I love you simply because it was destined for us to…
